Welcome!
Thanks for visiting my states of matter science planning website! Here you will find details on a science investigation performed in an ECIP room in an urban pre-school by myself (Ms. Jessie) and my colleague (Ms. Molly). Ms. Molly and I worked together to research a science topic, collect pre-assessment data and design appropriate and engaging lessons for our class. This investigation was designed using the ACCESS curriculum framework. The ACCESS curriculum framework has six main components; it is assessment-supported, child-centered, emergent, has a science emphasis and is standards integrated. This framework is currently being used at the University of Dayton's Bombeck Family Learning Center. Ms. Molly and I are undergraduate students at the University of Dayton studying Early Childhood Education. The investigation and lesson plans in this website were implemented in this field experience that correlated with a university course focused on creating curriculum that is personally meaningful and relevant to children's immediate lives. We thoroughly enjoyed engaging in the science discovery process with children and look forward to sharing our work with you!
